The use of HDPE conduit shall be permitted under the following conditions:
(5)Above ground, except as prohibited in 353.12, where encased in not less than 2 inches of concrete.
353.12 prohibits HDPE to be used where exposed, within buildings, in hazardous locations, where the ambient temperature is above 122 degrees F unless otherwise listed, and for use with conductors where the temperature of the conductors exceed the HDPE listed operating temperature.

Question: HDPE conduit can be used above ground if encased in not less than ______ of concrete.

a) 4 inches
b) 2 inches
c) 1 inch
2 353.20(B) Maximum Size of HDPE
HDPE conduit larger than 6 inches is not permitted.

Question: The maximum size of HDPE conduit that can be used is ________ .

a) 6 inches
b) 10 inches
c) 4 inches
3 354.10(5) Uses Permitted for Nonmetallic Underground Conduit with Conductors (NUCC)
NUCC shall be permitted, except as prohibited in 354.12, above ground where encased in 2 inches of concrete.
354.12 prohibits HDPE to be used where exposed, within buildings, and in hazardous locations,

Question: NUCC shall be permitted above ground, except as prohibited in 354.12, where encased in ________ of concrete.

a) 4 inches

5 356.10(7) Uses Permitted for Liquidtight Flexible Nonmetallic Conduit Type LFNC
LFNC shall be permitted to be used in exposed and concealed locations.
(7)For encasement in concrete LFNC shall be listed for direct burial and installed in compliance with 356.42.
356.42 Couplings and Connectors. Only fittings listed for use with LFNC shall be used. Angle connectors shall not be used for concealed raceway installations. Straight LFNC fittings are permitted for direct burial or encasement in concrete.

Question: LFNC shall be permitted to be used for encasement in concrete where _________ for direct burial and installed in compliance with 356.42.

a) approved
b) identified
c) listed
6 358.12(4) Uses Not Permitted for Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT)
EMT shall not be used in any hazardous (classified) location except as permitted by other Articles in the NEC.

Question: EMT ________ be used in any hazardous (classified) location except as permitted by other Articles in the NEC.

a) shall not
b) shall not unless listed
c) shall not unless approved
7 360.20(A) Exception No. 2 Minimum Size for Flexible Metallic Tubing Type FMT Exception No. 2
FMT smaller than 1/2 inch shall not be used. Exception No. 2 FMT of 3/8 inch trade size shall be permitted in lengths not longer than 6 feet where part of a listed assembly or luminaire. The word "approved" in the 2005 NEC was changed to "Listed".

FMT of 3/8 inch trade size shall be permitted in lengths not longer than 6 feet where part of a (n) _______ assembly or luminaire.

a) approved
b) listed
c) identified
8 362.30(A) Exception No. 3 Securing and Supporting Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing (ENT)
For concealed work in finished buildings or prefinished panels where securing is impractical, unbroken lengths without couplings of ENT shall be permitted to be fished.

Question: For concealed work in finished buildings or prefinished panels _______________, unbroken lengths without couplings of ENT shall be permitted to be fished .

a) where support cannot be maintained
b) where securing is not easy
c) where securing is impractical
9 366.2 Definitions. In the definition of auxiliary gutters for both nonmetallic and metallic the word wireway has been removed and replaced with enclosure so there is no confusion between auxiliary gutters and wireways.
2005 NEC: Metallic Auxiliary Gutters. Sheet metal enclosures with hinged or removable covers for housing and protecting electric wires, cable, and busbars in which conductors are laid in place after the WIREWAY has been installed as a complete system.
In the 2008 NEC the word "wireway" has been replaced with the word "enclosure".

Question: Metallic Auxiliary Gutters are sheet metal enclosures with hinged or removable covers for housing and protecting electric wires, cable, and busbars in which conductors are laid in place after the ___________ has been installed as a complete system.

a) wireway
b) enclosure
c) box
10 376.22 Number of Conductors and Ampacity for Wireways
This section has been revised. (A) Now covers the number of conductors and Part (B) covers the ampacity.

Question: 376.22 (A) covers the number of conductors that can be installed in a wireway. The sum of the cross sectional areas of all contained conductors at any cross section of a wireway shall not exceed _______ percent of the interior cross-sectional area of the wireway
